New platform for meme creators - Trollflix
The internet is everywhere, it is spreading like a spider web. It is spreading even more than MrBeast's elephant toothpaste. Like a giant spider web wrapped around the world. Here the real question is: You are the Spider-man or just a fly?
Well, to understand this let's continue reading. Grab your cappuccino, and position your ass perfectly, this is going to be a long article! ☕
Today the daily time spent on the internet is 7 hours on average. People spend their time on social media daily for an average of 2-3 hours. Seeing new social media startups is totally expected, especially during pandemics. Unfortunately, there is no startup with an idea to support meme creators, except Trollflix.
Trollflix is a social networking service for comedy, designed to make people laugh and support meme creators. The platform allows its users to upload only originally edited funny, hilarious, humorous videos.
“Humor is mankind's greatest blessing.” - Mark Twain
Trollflix is a platform developed to solve the real problems of meme creators. Meme creators are usually young people between the ages of 17-24. This means they are studying, and they have expenses.
- Couldn't be a nice project idea to economically support them to be better educated?
- Couldn't be a nice idea to make them pay their bills easier?
- Couldn't be a nice idea to help them save some money for their college after high school?
- Couldn't be a nice idea to help them to save money for their first job in their life?
Fax: "Meme creators no need to be supported, they are the source of smiles and laughter, they are already happy, they fell into a magic potion"...
Wrong! Meme creators need love, respect, and support. They need a family, they need a community. They need inspiration from others, and they need somebody who can understand them better. They need an ecosystem. They need a platform with an algorithm designed especially for memes. Trollflix is created to solve all of these issues.
Comedy and humor are art, this is a professional job. Comedians and Stand-Up artists use very professional techniques to make people laugh. This is a hard job. What about meme creators? They are not branded, and their content is not liked sometimes. This is totally normal. There are no meme quality standards, there are no meme categories, and no proper support either. We cannot expect maximum quality and exact audience delivery of memes in these circumstances. Trollflix by design solves these problems. Trollflix also has the "Edit studio" page to improve the quality of memes, and help creators to better execute their imagination in visual representation.
- For example, downloading a video from the internet is easy, but which downloader is converting the video with the lowest quality loss? Can any meme creator answer this?
- For example, creators are allowed to copy a part of copyrighted material without permission. Do meme creators know how much they can copy to avoid copyright issues?
Finally, a platform where hundreds of questions like that can be answered. Trollflix is designed to increase the quality of memes, everybody can share their techniques, and get inspired by others in one centralized place. Meme creators are everywhere, on Reddit, Instagram, and TikTok, but the reality is we are stronger when we are together!
“Alone, we can do so little. Together, we can do so much” – Helen Keller
Generally speaking, people won't follow a creator on social media, just because they liked one of his content. They may love Shrek memes, but they may not be interested in SpongeBob memes. The solution for creators is creating the same type of content every time or opening different profiles. Otherwise, their followers may not like their next content and unfollow them. This kind of approach is bad. Trollflix knows meme creators are people with imagination and fantasy. They may wish to create a meme of anything, remixed with anything.
Trollflix is a category-based social platform, instead of following creators users can follow the categories too. So creators do not care about getting or losing followers too much. Growing issues are solved! No growing hacks are required! Creators on Trollflix just can make memes of whatever they like. All they need to do is select the related categories of the content, then upload it. Expecting creators to be marketers, analysts, accountants, and advertisers can reduce the quality of content, due to the multi-focusing. The platforms need to handle all of these jobs and help creators. Trollflix believes this!
Current social media algorithms will downgrade creators who stop posting or if they are not consistent. Creators need to be consistent, they need to upload content every day, every week, or every month. This is a bad design. Consistency is important of course, you reach new people, but Trollflix knows that the quality of content never should be rated by upload consistency. Punishing the creators to make them upload regularly is absolutely unacceptable. Awarding the consistency and trend content will cause a rush, the rush will reduce the quality of the content. Trollflix is focusing on legendary memes instead of dank memes. Cuz' when there is no new content to show for users when they are refreshing the page, at least the platform will have something old to recommend. Trollflix is focusing on quality and more views, instead of quantity and fewer views of content. Another advantage of category-based social design is there is no punishment for inconsistency in posts. Trollflix is totally aware that the content ideas, inspiration, and motivation come randomly to the creators. Not one per week, or not one per month... The platforms must stop behaving to creators like they are their contracted workers.
Platforms like 9GAG, Imgur, Reddit, Neverthink.tv, and Coub are more liked by meme creators, cuz their algorithm is category-based, just like Trollflix. However, these platforms are not close to being a true alternative to Trollflix. Trollflix specifically focuses on only funny video memes and only originally edited content. No cooking receipts, no education, no fake awards, no cute dog and cute cat videos, no waiting for page refresh to view comments, no clone contents, and much more NOs... Trollflix is for comedy, memes, humor, parody, and remix. Simple and on point.
Neverthink.tv (R.I.P.) was the most liked platform of meme creators. The main reason for that is they had meme-compatible channels like "Funny", "LOL", and "ROFL". No social media platform had categories for comedy that much. And the videos were 100% handpicked. The current technology is not enough to measure the quality of editing and the humor in the contents. Unlike other social media platforms, the memes were 100% handpicked on Neverthink.tv, just like currently on Trollflix. But I hope they come back with the lessons learned. Trollflix's plan is to assign 5-30 moderators for each of the 100+ funny content categories available on Trollflix. This number will depend on how much Trollflix scales. These moderators will handpick the memes for the "Trend" page, depending on the uploaded content's quality standards. These moderators must be people that interested in this certain category. For example, a moderator cannot be assigned to the Minecraft category if he does not play Minecraft and enjoys it. Moderators need to understand the subject well. Unfortunately, YouTube has no system like this. The handpick strategy is for high-traffic platforms, so nobody will be disappointed expecting their videos for getting views. YouTube has this power, but no vision IMO. YouTube can easily assign 30 moderators for each of the popular hashtags. I guess the company's profit is more important than getting new employees and paying a salary for them? - IDK, YouTube knows better, just thoughts.
During the development of Trollflix (2017-2021), luckily I didn't know the existence of Neverthink.tv. Otherwise, I would start creating memes, instead of sacrificing my time for learning programming languages and battling against endless bugs. Maybe if I were patient, and continue uploading to YouTube, I would be a successful meme creator with a minimum of 1M followers now. But growing a channel on YouTube was very hard, and the system was not designed for short videos, especially for memes.
“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” – Mahatma Gandhi
I followed the hard path and learned web development from the beginning. What is the meaning of this life? Following the easy path, making some kids, working, eating, and dying? That's it? Dying without providing value to the world with something? I believe in the BigBang theory, but the BigBang cannot create itself. We are on Earth for some reason! We need to honor the god we believe in! We need to help others, so we can get help from others. Instead of being nothing, now we are something and we have the opportunity to live endlessly in paradise. Life is just an exam, and our existence is the biggest gift to us. We have nothing to lose trying, the time is endless, and the soul is immortal. We need to spread the goodness in this world as much as possible when we have an opportunity. I strongly believe Trollflix will be a successful project, and the community of it will be very supportive of each other.
"Life is a tragedy when seen in close-up, but a comedy in long-shot" - Charlie Chaplin
Trolflix is a kinda micro-angel investor for meme creators. Thinking about this gives me a lot of energy and willingness to work hard. Project Trollflix's vision of making people smile needs to be looked at from a much larger perspective. It is created with a mission to support meme creators for their first StartUp project or career. This is why the platform will not cut any commissions from the creators' revenue. So maybe they can execute their own ideas and create some product or organization that can help people in our world, and improve the human civilization...
Unfortunately, Neverthink.tv said "Time to say goodbye ❤️" with the heart emoji. Do they have bad SEO or what? I am glad I didn't find them on the internet. Otherwise, I probably wouldn't create a platform for meme creators. Personally, it feels so sad for me to see communities, especially meme communities being divided, cuz their homes are destroyed. We should work really hard and try our best to make this not happen again!
Neverthink.tv was shut down due to lack of funding. You don't need a lot of funding when you have a community behind you, you simply can ask for support. Servers are not that much expensive for the community. But if you have a mobile app, this might be hard to know all of the programming languages or frameworks eg: React, Swift, JAVA, or Kotlin... And if you are not a developer itself as a CEO, hiring a developer can be very, very, very costly. Today IOS and Android developer salaries are on average $50,000 annually. Shortly, this looks like a lack of scaling strategy rather than a lack of funding. That feels sad for me and for the meme creators. We need to take a lot of lessons from here...
When we got our first creator partner on Trollflix, he said: "I hope Trollflix to be the next Neverthink.tv, we meme creators are looking for a platform" ... This is what I was thinking too. But hearing that was something else, something different. Hearing what I was thinking was a very emotional moment for me... Meme creators needed some platform for them for sure.
But, "Every cloud has a silver lining"... This is one of the meanings of the Trollflix logo (theatre masks). The future of memes and meme creators is bright, with Trollflix or without Trollflix, with Neverthink.tv, or without Neverthink.tv. Early or late people will realize, how hard can be to create the thing that causes them to laugh.
Also, I hope one day YouTube to add a "Comedy" category to their "Explore" page, so comedians, comedy channels, and meme creators can get more subscribers, and a chance for discoverability. Nobody uses the Explore page though, cuz' providing only categories may not be enough, users are mostly interested in sub-categories. Users may like music, users may don't like music. Users may like gaming, users may don't like gaming. The category doesn't matter if there are no sub-categories. Everybody likes learning, but nobody likes learning too, it all depends on what is it... This is why the Explore page is dead on YouTube... Trollflix understands this and it provides 100+ categories only for funny video memes. Even 100 is not enough, in the future, the platform will implement sub-sub-categories only for video memes... Yes, YouTube provides some sub-categories too, but what if users want to watch something funny? Yes, and users will fall back into a search bar. This is not a YouTube review blog, of course, trying to explain why YouTube is not preferred for memes. Their system does not allow this. Also, YouTube delayed its "Dark Mode" feature for decades, I guess they love delaying things. Their business, they know better. I can see there is an empty space for decades on the down-right side, they can add a new category there. YouTube more focuses on search algorithms, and keywords. And it is actually so smart today. But sometimes when you are going to the restaurant you may wish to see the menu, instead of spelling the "Magic Keywords" to explore what you love. And believe me, YouTube is not a restaurant that you are going to every day, and know all of the menus. Debatable subject, comment below this article, what do you think?
At least YouTube is sharing the content revenue with its creators. Other big tech companies make billions from meme creators' high-effort content. In exchange for that, they provide them just notifications. So creators can come back to their platform, leave their data, view more ads, upload new content, and repeat. Believe me, you cannot imagine what things people can do for the notification and attention in this world, especially Gen Z. Big tech companies know that the notifications are more addicting than caffeine and smoking. Humans by their DNA are social creatures, and big tech companies use this weakness very well. Trollflix is a project created to put a value on meme creators, and give them what they really deserve.
So-called "Doctor Strange" opened a portal for the "Multiverse of Madness". The world is facing catastrophes in series since 2019. Covid-19 pandemic was one of them. Some people lost their jobs, some people started creating content online. Some people started streaming on Twitch, some people started dancing on TikTok. The content creation opportunities were a lot. What about if somebody wanted to provide humor by using their editing skills? Yes, talking about video meme creators.
The social platforms didn't manage to support original memes very well. Instead, they stole memes and used them as a salad alongside main dishes. Trollflix serves memes as a main meal, they are the salads.
During the pandemic times, we all got an opportunity to extra explore the internet like Alice enters wonderland. The social media wonderlands doubled their content creators and skyrocketed their profit charts to the moon. Mark Zuckerberg introduced a new wonderland - Meta. Elon Musk bought a new wonderland - Twitter. Twitter introduced "Spaces". YouTube introduced "#Shorts". TikTok introduced "Longs" and "Stories", Instagram introduced "Reels", and Twitch TV added new categories: "ASMR", "Just chatting", and the most creative content category ever - "I am only sleeping".
Video meme creators suffered a lot. They provided a lot of value. Creating video memes is a really hard job. They caused laughing, they provided humor, and they spread smiles all across the world. No platform supported these heroes with golden hearts, except YouYube. (maybe Neverthink.tv too, comment below)... But unfortunately, creators worked a lot for YouTube's ContenID system previously. Meme creators made musicians millionaires... Do creators really deserve 100% demonetization for their high-effort content? Luckily today you can use 5-6 seconds of music without ContentID claims... Big tech companies are not making changes to improve their platforms unless they have a new competitor.
These wonderland platforms tried their best to grab the potential users of other platforms, cuz they knew the internet usage ratio will increase, due to everybody being in quarantine. The data is power. Who controls the data controls the world. But the memes are very powerful too. Do you know Tesla hit a 1 trillion market cap, spending $0 on ads?
"Who controls the memes, controls the Universe" - Elon Musk
Elon Musk said they are focusing on organic growth. Yes, Tesla didn't spend any money on ads. But what about the money spent to send a Tesla car to space? 🤣 Considering its competitors spending billions on ads, Tesla became a meme almost for no cost. Being a meme was the most cheapest and effective investment for Tesla. This is the power of memes! Now Elon Musk bought Twitter, and I guess free speech and free stealing of OG memes are important for "Organic Growth" purposes. Look like this is most likely a "Meme Growth". Ok joke, I think this is just a part of the plan for selling Neuralink. But we never can know what he is planning, he is unpredictable. Twitter is a data doping. Who controls the data, controls the memes, emotions, and behaviors. Today the AI can make your next choice for you, all he needs is your data. Also, I started to see a lot of Elon Musk tweets on my feed, much more than usual. He gained 30+ million followers after he buy Twitter. Anyway... Making customers smile and laugh is the best marketing strategy, and he rarely tweets about politics. The man is professional. If you are a meme as an influencer, you don't need to pay for ads, just make it a meme, and people will share it for free. Elon Musk is a futuristic man, and the future of marketing is becoming a meme.
(source: https://www.deviantart.com/danthedoodle/art/To-the-Moon-879515841)
Elon Musk does not need to advertise his products, cuz he himself is a meme. All he needs to do is introduce the new product, and share its memes. For example, do anybody knows who is the CEO of BMW, Rolls Roys, Ford, or Dodge? As they are not sharing memes, they will need to share ads for the cost of millions of budget. Elon Musk saves this money and shares memes. Instead, he spends the money he saved to improve his products. And maybe Tesla today is the best car, and one of the top-selling cars. We can clearly see the importance of self-branding and memes. Cuz memes are a perfect way of self-branding, memes get a lot of attention and a lot of shares/retweets. His meme personality made him the richest person in the world. People love the craziness and madness, and Elon is well managing these. I am not telling, he is acting, looks like he is an original Troll. I am not surprised talking about Elon Musk on this blog instead of Trollflix.
Memes are effective and helpful for your business! Failures are a lack of success. But if you are a meme, you don't need to be scared of failures, cuz' your failures are your memes, your failures are your success!
SpaceX memes like the above, on the left side today, can be a ticket for a "Space vacation" tomorrow. Memes make products to customers feel closer, familiar, and sympathetic to them. This significantly increases the preferability ratio of the product. Why we are talking about Elon Musk instead of Trollflix, are you a fanboy? - Cuz' we must learn a lot of lessons from him, excluding not crediting the original creators when posting memes, including stealing memes for "Organic Growth" or "Meme Growth" purposes. Sometimes you need to do what you don't like to do to achieve what you like to do. Just like Elon Musk, he started with PayPal, but the target was the space, "To the moon", for making humans a multi-planetary species... Trollflix's vision to support meme creators is much bigger than being a "no platform cut" social media. Trollflix is a project targeting to make meme creators brand themselves. Definitely, meme creators will stop making memes and staying behind the keyboard their entire life. One day they will show up on camera to introduce some product, execute new ideas, and follow their dreams. Your memes are their receipt of your future products and services. Your memes are your CV for your next career.
Do you remember the days politics were suing meme creators? Now they are literally "begging" to be a meme, and marketing themselves using memes... In the image below we can see some poggers, who sometimes behave strangely to increase their meme points (votes).
Also, Elon Musk is trying his best to collect meme points as much as possible. He is not a politician, but he can easily be a president, depending on meme points he collected. All he needs to do is tweeting "America to the moon!"... Yes, this is the world we live in. People trust memes more than political ads. If you are not a meme as a politician today, you are not a very successful politician imo. Elon Musk realized this much earlier, he never sued his memes. People talk shit about him on the first day, the second day they make memes of him, and on the third day, they end up buying a Tesla car, and creating content of it for uploading on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, etc. This is free marketing. Memes make haters fanboys.
"Patience is Bitter, but its Fruit is Sweet" - Jean-Jacques Rousseau
This is how it suppose to be, never sue people who make jokes about you. Your best friend is who can troll you, who can tell you honestly to your face that it does not like something about you... At least you will know which side of yourself to improve. And you can convert the negative feelings into positive ones. This is the power of memes! In the image below Donald Trump is explaining something very important, that we all wondering about.
video source: https://twitter.com/PoliticsJOE_UK/status/1296789646916157447
Can you imagine the quantity of memes that were generated after this speech... The man is a walking troll and a walking meme alive. Professional speaker, handshaker, and professional dancer. His skills perfectly fit to be a world leader (KAPPA). The chance for him to come back to work as president is significantly high (no cap). You hate or like him doesn't matter, I am trying to explain to you that memes are important for success, as much as data. Trump very well managed the memes and the data ( Cambridge Analytica imo, DYOR).
Unfortunately, being a meme is not enough for us... Our planet is rich, the water is endless, the sun is endless, the air is endless, and the soil is endless. God gave everybody enough resources to live. Today we use air energy well, the Sun energy well, etc.. But this is not enough, we can do better! In general, politics blame the world population and global warming for their failure of management and organization. They continue feeding the Devil with the civilians/children's blood by investing in war (human-killing machines) to get power (imperialism, Fascism, Monopoly), instead of investing in desalination, etc, and solving the real problems of the world. If we share our planet's resources equally, most of the problems will be fixed. Data shows us that people are dying cuz hunger, thirst, and medical access... This level of management and organization is unacceptable. The web 3.0 logic, decentralization, and blockchain will change the world... Once we make money decentralized, we must make politics decentralized. Even though the technology is going forward, politicians pulling our generation backward. Eg: Putin invaded Ukraine, who voted for this, Putin or Zelensky? Not the citizens voted for war for sure. Russians and Ukrainians are brothers-sisters, like cmon... In the future DeFi and DePo (Decentralised Politics) to the moon please! Then this can be the Golden Age of Apocalypse.
Unlike politicians, Trollflix's vision is to make the world united using memes. Trollflix can bring together and remix the cultures of different nations together. So different people all across the world can share humor and develop humor. So the society will be more humorous. And where is the humor, there is the peace. Once we teach people that every people all across the world, can be creative and humorous, we will completely finish racism. Bots, media, and news manipulate people. Even the schools educate children to be racist, their way of educating history is very incorrect. They cause hate between nations. Meme creators are amazing people, no matter from which country from they are. Trollflix is implementing a lot of strategies to make feel users internationally connected to each other. Eg: When users upload content on Trollflix, they can represent a country. Trollflix servers are designed to make humor an international language with which people can connect together. Memes are our world's dictionary...
"Make memes, not war" -Mark Twain ("The Father of American Humor")
Trollflix servers, more will be added
The wonderland platforms that I mentioned previously, during the pandemic tried their best to provide a wide range of content context opportunities for their Alices. Meanwhile, their users explored new creators and new contexts. Users were like a fairy in Charlie's chocolate factory. "We protec, we attac, we subscribe, we follow", users were repeating the same process every single day in quarantine...
Users explored a lot of creators and followed them. That was the only job they are doing, cuz' there was nothing to do when everybody was at home. The pandemic is finishing but now users need to check their feeds every hour, so they cannot miss any new content. This significantly increased the daily social media usage time on average.
Simply explaining, the internet is currently like a Zerg with 15 bases on the map. Basically, it spreads like a Venom's ooze. You will be the Venom, or the Venom will be you?
Yes, Spider-man! That is our new lifestyle: "Pizza time!". During the pandemic, we not explored only new content creators, but also new fast food delivery services. We used to be lazy after we realized how easy is to order some food from the internet. The data is telling that, not me. 36% of us get fast food delivered, which is up by 28% from two years ago. This is when the Covid-19 pandemic started at end of 2019. Now the coronavirus cases and quarantines are reducing, but still, personally, I started to go to McDonald's or PizzaHut at least once per week. Small shops were bankrupted. They were closed, that was the legal requirement. Meanwhile, online businesses with delivery options survived. Hopefully, now you better understand the importance of moving your business online. Believe me, early or late you will start creating content on the Internet. Just only consuming content like nerdy vampires couldn't be a smart strategy economically. Maybe you think I am kidding, but the data never lies. The influencer marketing market size has been doubled during the COVID-19 pandemic. In the future, AI and ML will do most of the human jobs automatically. In the future, in factories, one worker will start to operate five machines at the same time instead of one. I worked in Hyundai, Kia, and much more factories previously, and I can clearly see the progression closely... If you look at modern factories like Tesla Gigafactory, they almost no have operators inside. "As the automatization increases, the eye of the storm will shrink"... And there will be no jobs for many people. New professions will be born, and a lot of sectors and job positions will be varnished, except for one job - humor.
“Artificial intelligence will never get jokes like humans do," -Kiki Hempelmann
Yes! Humor. Humor is our future job in the jobless world. One of the available job positions in the future might be online comedians, meme creators, or whatever you call it. Trollflix is here to support humor providers. The platform is preparing the groundwork for them, a better position in the future world of the web.
Trollflix is a home for meme creators, where they can meet, and get inspired by each other. Without a special platform, that would be hard to defend creators against copyright issues and other legal issues. Memes can contain materials from other content. Trollflix is created to be a partner with filmmakers, music producers, and other companies that sell creative tools. Meme creators pay to buy their music, and their movies. Probably most of them have a subscription to Netflix-like platforms or Spotify, right?. What if meme creators stop paying for music and movies, and download only torrents? Can artists continue to make money? Trollflix believes meme creators do not deserve a copyright strike, as they don't damage their businesses. So basically, meme creators are actually promoting movies and artists for free in their memes and getting copyright claims in exchange for providing popularity to the film industry. Feels like something is wrong with the system... Creating memes is legal, but creators don't know the laws properly, and sometimes they can cross the lines of "fair use" this is totally normal. Copyright issues besides, there are a lot of other issues that exist with memes. Trollflix is created to fix all of these issues, and help the creators release their ideas freely.
Humor - The ability to be amused by something seen, heard, or thought about, sometimes causing you to smile or laugh, or the quality in something that causes amusement.
Spreading humor, love, laughter, and smiles as much as possible is the goal of Trollflix. Feels like some organizations trying to inject fear into humans. Trollflix is not supporting this, the platform is focusing on making people happy, but not scared. Starting from 2019 to 2022 a new catastrophe is happening order by order, and this looks like not will end soon. Kaos is planned!
"Humor can be one of our best survival tools." - Allen Klein
Our fate is our exam, we must try our best to pass it, but by smiling instead of crying. Disasters are scheduled, and we cannot stay in fear and cry our entire life. Trollflix is the platform created to help people smile.
"In every tragedy,
an element of comedy is preserved.
Comedy is just tragedy reversed."
- Wislawa Szymborska
I am not a doctor, but I know that laughter can make me feel very good. It draws people together in ways that trigger healthy physical and emotional changes in the body. Laughter strengthens your immune system, boosts mood, diminishes pain, and protects you from the damaging effects of stress. Research has shown that people who laugh a lot and are reasonably happy are actually healthier than those that don’t. "Laughter is the best medicine". So Trollflix is a hospital, meme creators are doctors, and the memes are the cure.
“The power of community to create health is far greater than any physician, clinic or hospital.” – Mark Hyman
- Couldn't be a nice idea to create some platform with content quality standards, to increase the meme quality?
- Couldn't be a nice idea to create some algorithm to deliver memes specific to a person professionally?
Trollflix provides more than 100 categories of funny content. The next plan is to add much more categories. Not also categories, but also the "Channels" and "Moods" will be added. Some people love dark humor, some people love soft comedy. Trollflix also is planning to add much more filters, so contents can be ordered by "New", "Popular", "Not viewed", "Recommended", etc. Concepts and challenges are also in the future plans of Trollflix. For the sake of simplicity and slow scaling, currently, these features are disabled at the early stage, which can make the platform look complicated for newcomers.
Providing users to select the content they love by category, channel, mood, advanced filters, and servers is a high-scaling plan. The target of Trollflix is being a major social media platform for memes. Shortly Trollflix will deliver any kind of cure (meme) for anyone. Trollflix is a 24/7 available online hospital and it is free. And always will be free!
Now you better can understand the secret of life - Humor. The key to success. The level of communication that cannot be achieved by words. The source of love. The cure of your soul. The blessed shockwave that makes you the happiest person in the world for a small moment, no matter how many problems you have in your life.
"A day without laughter is a day wasted." - Charlie Chaplin
Trollflix's mission is to spread this magic feeling all across the world and increase the average laugh ratio on Earth. Trollflix is specially designed for meme creators. A lot of lessons were learned from the mistakes of other platforms.
YouTube is a very good platform for watching videos, and it has a very advanced search bar. But YouTube is not really good for uploading short original memes. The algorithm of it likes long videos around 10 minutes. When you search for "memes" on YouTube, the results are 10-minute meme compilation videos. When you filter the search results under 4-minute videos, you will see older memes, we call them dank memes. And when you filter search results by upload date, basically #shorts, TikToks, Minecraft kids, and other portrait low-quality cloned memes are displayed. That feels like, YouTube prefers supporting the meme curators rather than the original meme creators. Doesn't YouTube love original memes? This is wrong. This is totally normal for any website. The platforms cannot focus on every type of content at the same time. Otherwise, Facebook would be Twitter, Amazon, Uber, YouTube, TikTok, Twitch, and Netflix at the same time. A social platform cannot be a shopping center, they are just a shop in the shopping center. The time you spend on something is the time you are not spending on something. Focusing on everything means, sacrificing the quality of the content/product for availability and delivery. Every single product in the world is upgradeable, with unlimited versions... Your life couldn't be enough to present the final version of your product. So focus on a single target, and do your job properly and professionally. The future of social media is context-based, community-based... Trollflix is created to focus and be professional on a single context: Original meme videos.
During the development of Trollflix, YouTube improved a lot, and they continue improving. For example, they are scanning the content against copyright claims before users upload the content. There are a lot of successful original meme creators on YouTube. But considering YouTube is the most visited website in the world, the ratio of succeeded original meme creators is very low. How do I know the ratio? I follow them all, I know them all... The platform even does not provide a category "Comedy", you need to explore what you love with keywords, but I already mentioned the search bar functionality of YouTube. The search results are dominated by big successful channels. There is no opportunity for small meme creators.
Trollflix knows that the quality and effort of the memes should not be measured by their duration. Creators sometimes can put hours of work, just for the 20 seconds of the video.
Just kidding! Dank meme compilations are nice content for those people laughing at everything... Trollflix as a platform is a meme compilation by itself. But instead of dank memes, it focuses on high-quality memes, content understandability, and memology. Without selecting the category, this is hard to understand all of the memes when you are watching a meme compilation. Each meme that you can't catch its humor is a waste of your time. YouTube is a general video uploading platform that we love. Let's be honest, in general people are not coming to watch short original memes on YouTube. Imagine you are switching short meme videos on YouTube every 30 seconds. When you load a video, you are waiting for the page to reload. If you are lucky you are also waiting to skip ads. Trollflix solves these problems by design. Trollflix is a SPA (Single-Page-Application), which means the page is not refreshed when you are loading new content, or when you navigate through different pages. YouTube must stop reloading the page when you are scrolling through #shorts.
Ads on Trollflix are only images. This makes loading times faster. Image ads can be placed on the side of the videos (Unless the video is not on fullscreen mode). This will make users start watching the next video faster without waiting to skip ads. Original meme videos are generally short in duration, on average between 5 and 30 seconds. So the lesson learned here is making the video easily switchable is very important, especially if the videos are memes.
'Meme' is an abbreviation of the Ancient Greek word 'mimeme' meaning 'copied'. Memes are copied and cycled through social platforms like Reddit, Instagram, Twitter, 9GAG, Imgur, and YouTube. This causes space junk of duplicates and reduces the quality of memes. The quality of memes is reduced, due to curators putting their watermarks over other watermarks, like in Reddit Places. They even crop the memes a bit, to hide others' watermarks. When they upload the same meme again, the platforms are rendering the video again, and this decreases the video meme quality.
I don't blame the curators. They are just playing the game by the rules. When the platforms are like a jungle, their users need to be wild to survive. The algorithm is the natural selection. On Trollflix is allowed to upload only originally created content, creators cannot copy somebody else's content from other platforms. This solves the duplicate content spam issue. The platform respects the creators and their originality.
The lessons learned from the mistakes of YouTube against meme creators were implemented in Trollflix.
- Creators' content will get a lot of views quickly, even if they have 0 followers.
- Creators will not wait to start monetizing their content. Memes are short videos. Trollflix will not require a minimum of 4000 watch hours from creators to start monetization.
- Creators deserve a better music library, so they can use it in their content. Trollflix has a good music library, and it's continuously adding new songs.
- Creators should not lose copyright points for fair use if they get copyright claims.
- The music industry takes 100% monetization from memes, just because their song is used 6-7 seconds in videos, even if the video is a 10-minute long. Reducing the sound quality of the content to bypass the audio recognition system is a bad approach. But to survive, sometimes you need to be wild in a jungle like this. Trollflix shall never sign contracts that focus on stealing efforts instead of sharing revenues. There are always better alternative songs for your memes.
- YouTube is like a jungle, hashtags are not enough to find your community. Hashtags only will give you some piece of content, and its owner, but not the community. Sadly, the videos that actually you are interested in, can appear to you after 8 years in YouTube recommendations. After 8 years!... YouTube at least could implement a "similar accounts" system like on Instagram, or a "recommended user" system like on TikTok. Trollflix must take lessons from this, just providing a wide range of categories maybe not be enough. It may need to display the categories' creator accounts too.
I am totally aware of managing all of this at a large scale can be hard. There are a lot of strategies to make this easy on Trollflix. For example, every content category will have its moderators. Also, Trollflix is focusing on the quality and effort of content, instead of the consistency of uploadings. And there are much more strategies waiting to be implemented in the future. Trollflix is designed to focus on only one job professionally, this is why it is a special platform for comedy and meme creators. The platform's future goals are huge, it cannot be a meme group on Discord, YouTube, or Twitter. These platforms are embedded on Trollflix. They are not an alternative to Trollflix. They are an extension of Trollflix (KAPPA 👻).
Discord is an amazing platform, that you can create a platform inside it. Thanks to the API they provide, the community develops a lot of Discord Bots, which makes the servers fun, and moderation easy. Without its API, Discord could be just a regular, boring, chat platform. The success behind Discord is a contributing community, that helps Discord to be rich in functionality. Discord even has a developer badge for those who create Discord Bots.
Shortly, the lessons learned from here is that Trollflix must be an open-source platform in the future, or at least provide a wide API so users can contribute.
"Community is much more than belonging to something; it's about doing something together that makes belonging matter." - Brian Solis
Sometimes simplicity is the key, but if this continues for a long time, somebody can change its lock. Users expect new things, users love to see their favorite platforms improve. Skype is a cute, fast, and simple app. But that continued for a long time! Discord implemented voice chat directly in games, so users were able to adjust volume levels without minimizing the screen, for each people connected to the voice chat. Microsoft's $10 billion offer to buy Discord is rejected.
For example, Vine. Do you remember Vine? What a simple and cool app was. But they didn't make any changes for too long. If Vine would have figured out its advertising strategy earlier on, it would've had enough income to support its creators. Trollflix was rebuilt 3 times, and one of the biggest reasons was the spaghetti code and the bad advertisement strategy: the template, ad placements, sharings, etc. But today Trollflix is a platform with the best social media template. All in one page, and everything is accessible with one click, without reloading the page... Displaying ads on platforms supports creators. The creators keep businesses alive, not the servers. This shows us the importance of a good advertisement and scaling strategy. The Trollflix template is 100% original, not bootstrapped, and no ready plugins are used. Meme creators deserve the best template in the world!
Double page with double navigation on one page. On the same page, and a lot of little modals in the background, plus the video modal page. (omg, I felt like in McDonald's. We need to work on UI terms)
Trollflix does not have a mobile app in the early stage. It focuses on slow, but healthy scaling. Trollflix is a platform perfect for lying back, drinking coffee, and enjoying high-quality edits. The platform is focusing on heavily-edited content, so on mobile, they may not be interactive as on desktop, especially if the viewer no has headphones, which is very likely. Just like any other successful platform, it will delay its mobile app release. Unlike web apps, displaying ads on mobile apps can be harder, especially for only short video platforms. On the web app, Trollflix can display content and ad at the same time without visually disturbing the users. On small screen sizes, it's more tricky and needs a special strategy. For example, Instagram displays ads almost every 3 content. But the ads are images. On TikTok, the ads are videos, and imagine if TikTok displays ads on every 3 content. Users probably would uninstall the app. In my opinion, TikTok does not support creators enough. They are displaying only one video ad when users launch the app. They may consider displaying more ads, but image ads, and share the revenue with creators. But TikTok has no categories or content filters on its platform. They cannot display ads on every 3 to 5 videos, users swipe down very fast, without even watching the full video. Seeing ads every ~20 seconds can be annoying. TikTok is not like Instagram, when you are swiping down, you need to wait for the transition effect to finish. On Instagram when you decide the ad is not useful for you, you can skip it by continuing swiping down, this takes 0.200ms. TikTok's move of implementing a gift system was a helpful idea for creators, so some users don't need to have a camera to start a Live stream for receiving gifts. On Trollflix's last version, the gifts system was implemented to the platform. So users can send gifts to support creators. Unlike other platforms, on TikTok and Trollflix you can send gifts with a value of ~$0.01, so you can send tips to any content you like. If the minimum gift price was $1, you wouldn't easily tip all the creators you love. For example, if you have 30 subscribers on YouTube, do you tip all of them? Or on Twitch if you are following 10 streamers, do you subscribe to all of them. So lesson learned here is to make the support come from the heart, but not from the wealth. Whether you like it or not, TikTok is an app that deserves respect. Unlike Instagram, they made poor people popular on social media. Currently, on TikTok, memes are contents that fall from the sky, randomly sent by angels. Trollflix is created to make meme creators original artists.
Due to the lack of a meme platform. The easiest way to create a meme platform was Discord servers. Discord is the only place where you can easily create a website basically, without being a web developer. But unfortunately, this is not enough for meme creators. Do you know Trollflix automatically shares creators' content on Pinterest after the content is uploaded, so creators can get more traffic for their content, and more views? Trollflix will continue to add much more techniques like this to better support creators. Unlike other social platforms, the contents in Discord are not visible on search engines. The contents in Discord also cannot be shared on social platforms such as Facebook, or Twitter. Unlike Discord's servers, Discord's content SEO is very weak. Memes need attention, memes need discoverability, and memes need to be searchable, memes need to have a lot of views, so they can generate revenue. Trollflix's SEO is not perfect too currently, the content filtering combinations have to be SEO friendly. Discord has no content filters either, whatever you get in channel #memes... Also, you are not the owner of your Discord server, the BOTs you invited has the administrator's permission. Every click of yours can be recorded on some third-party server, including your hidden messages, and joined channels. I am personally a Discord BOT developer, and the data you can reach with BOTs is massive and very dangerous. Memes must be in a safe and secure place where kids and families can be, away from BOTs and #nsfw channels. Trollflix has its own Discord server for chat, support, giveaways, and other fun stuff. Discord is a nice platform for memes, gaming chat, etc.., but not close to being home for meme creators. Meme creators are on the wrong platforms, Trollflix's ecosystem is professionally designed for meme creators.
Bruh, in my honest opinion, meme creators deserve a minimum of $1000-$5000 per their high-effort content, a minimum! This is the target of Trollflix...
Lessons learned from other social platforms, were implemented in Trollflix. Viewers no need to be rich to support creators. On Trollflix viewers can send gifts with a value of 0.01p to support creators. "All for one and one for all". We all love our creators, and we have a minimum of 40 followers total on the internet, we love their content, but we cannot support them, we feel bad about that. YouTube Join button costs ~$5, Twitch Subscription costs ~$5 ... Can you imagine you supporting all of your followers by donating your salary? This kind of approach is bad. During the development of Trollflix, some of them realized this issue. Twitch introduced bits, YouTube introduced the "Super Thanks" button, and TikTok added cheaper gifts. They are improving.
Creating content may be expensive. Creators may need to put a budget and need to be consistent. This is hard for young people, especially if they study. Trollflix eliminates the budget and consistency for meme creators. On Trollflix creators don't need to be rich. They don't need to be smart. They don't need to have a nice body. They don't need to change dress for their next post. They don't need to record themselves on camera. All they need for magic is just a bit of humor and editing. They don't need a real profile picture, or to display their real names to be social, just like on Facebook. Trollflix knows that your best friend is someone that you can read his mind and someone who can read your mind. Trollflix is an app where people are communicating with others with their minds, with their creativity, fantasy, imagination, and humor.
Some people think they are in community, but they are only in proximity. True community requires commitment and openness. It is a willingness to extend yourself to encounter and know the other.” –David Spangler
As always, the most important lesson here is, that we need to learn from others' mistakes and don't repeat them. I am tired of seeing creators being a victim of the algorithms. I am excited for the future of Trollflix, and the lessons that will be learned.
I believe we do not use the real power of memes. Memes are like salty water, Trollflix is created to desalinate the memes. With proper support for creators and constantly developing quality standards, we can increase the quality of memes. It's good to see that Elon Musk confirms the importance of supporting meme creators.
